I have a friend who claimed to have had a "spiritual" encounter last year. It happened on the night of February 14, 2011. He was laying in his bed at night when he felt something pushing him into his bed. He wasn't able to move, but the "spirit" was on top of him forcing him down into his mattress. He said he also heard a woman's laughter. He described the laugh as a friendly one, though. I do not remember the rest of the details of this experience because it was so long ago, but I remember that when he described it to me, I cried. He swears that he was not asleep when it happened and he was very disturbed by it. During that year he began having a very hard time sleeping. He would have nightmares of dark figures in his room, but he was well aware that those were only dreams.
This morning I got a text message from my friend again. There was another spiritual encounter last night. It had been exactly one year since the last time it happened. Again, he swears he was not asleep. This time, he was unable to move again. He could hear a violin playing, he saw movement of a dark figure, and he said he saw a light. I have not had the chance to speak to him in person and hear him actually describe the account, but I have no doubt that what he is experiencing is real.
How many of you out there have had a similar experience? How many of you believe that there are ghosts, apparitions, or spirits out there?
I am a devout Christian, and I believe that there are definitely angels and demons out there. The Bible tells us that. I have a hard time with this, because this means that it is either an angel or demon contacting my friend, and by the way it sounds, I don't think it is an angel. My friend is also a christian, which I believe means that a demon would have no control over him.
It is safe to say that I am very confused by what has happened. I would love any insight on this topic from people that share a similar faith with me.
